The alloying element of 2014 aluminum is copper, which is called hard molybdenum, which has high strength and good cutting pin processing performance, but poor corrosion resistance. 2014 aluminum is the representative alloy grade in the 2000 series, in addition to 2024 (2A12), LY12, LY11, 2A11, 2A14 (LD10), 2017, 2A17, etc.

The 2XXX series is a typical hard aluminum alloy in the aluminum-copper-magnesium series. Its composition is relatively reasonable and its comprehensive performance is better. Many countries produce this alloy, which is the largest amount of duralumin. The characteristics of this alloy are: high strength, certain heat resistance, and can be used as working parts below 150°C. At temperatures above 125°C, the strength of the 2XXX series alloys is higher than that of the 7075 alloy. The forming properties in the hot state, annealing and new quenching state are relatively good, and the heat treatment strengthening effect is remarkable, but the heat treatment process requirements are strict. The corrosion resistance is poor, but it can be effectively protected by cladding with pure aluminum; it is easy to produce cracks during welding, but it can be welded or riveted by a special process. 2014 Specification for Heat Treatment of Aluminum Sheets

1) Homogenization annealing: heating at 475~490℃; holding for 12~14h; furnace cooling.

2) Complete annealing: heating at 350~400°C; depending on the effective thickness of the material, 30~120min during heat preservation; cooling to 300°C with the furnace at a speed of 30~50°C/h, and then air cooling.

3) Rapid annealing: heating at 350~460℃; holding time 30~120min; air cooling.

4) Quenching and aging: Quenching at 495~505℃, water cooling; natural aging at room temperature for 96h.
